Xmas exploding boxes

Welcome to my new blog.

I'm hoping to add something to this blog every day. Well that's the theory anyway. I've only recently started using Facebook. I've not got round to it before and I must admit it can take over your life if you're not careful. I think I've got the hang of it now. From there I discovered Pintrest. Now that is addictive! I can spend hours surfing the net trying to find things I would like to add.

I am a crafter. I learnt to sew my own clothes when I was about 14, and then learnt to knit and crochet. I guess I've always been artistic  I now have lots of time on my hands. My 3 children have all left home and I developed a debilitating illness 7 years ago. So, I started to make cards. Over the years I've tried my hand at lots of different things. I soon discovered that a lot of other people were doing the same thing, so I turned to making exploding boxes. The name huginafold was a perfect description of what I was making, and so the boxes became huginafold boxes. These are some of my Xmas 2012 boxes.

I made snowmen with different coloured hats and scarves. They sat on a square of snow.

I made some art deco style black and silver, with silver trees and little black and silver parcels around the base.

This is a more traditional design and was one of the first types I made. The 3D Xmas tree was decorated with swags of red glitter, and there were multi coloured parcels underneath.

I also make huginafold boxes for any occasion. I don't think there is an occasion I haven't covered over the years. The good thing about the boxes is that they can be personalised so that they become a keepsake.  To date I've never made two the same. They are all unique in some way or other. I'm working on taking better photos, and then I will add new boxes as they are made.

Until next time.......
